Wilson devotees have long desired to take the Wilson sound beyond the listening room. Why not a true desktop or bookshelf speaker? Some manufacturers might have seen that desire as an opportunity to slap their name on an outsourced entry-level product, made inexpensively somewhere overseas.
That was never an option.
TuneTots are lovingly fabricated and assembled by the same group of talented craftsmen who build the WAMM Master Chronosonic, using exactly the same processes and techniques.
Its cabinet and driver technology are derived directly from Alexx and Sabrina. Finally, each TuneTot that emerges from Wilson is held to the same rigorous, industry-leading manufacturing tolerances as its larger siblings, ensuring each TuneTot is as technically and musically accurate as the reference prototype.
But that alone wouldn’t make TuneTot a Wilson Audio speaker.
Guided by advanced laser vibrometry, Wilson engineers designed the cabinet—constructed of X and S material—with optimal material thickness and internal bracing to provide a non-resonant launch pad for the carefully selected drivers in this two way system, which, despite it’s size, reproduces bass down to 25hz.
The logo on the rear panel identifies it as a Wilson Special Applications Engineering product—which means it’s built to perform in environments normally hostile to good sound.
Adjustable spikes allow the speaker to tilt for optimum time alignment of the drivers, even in nearfield listening installations.
A typical wood desk or sideboard is a very resonant platform. To decouple the TuneTot from its environment, Wilson developed the accessory IsoBase (shown in the photographs) formulated with a proprietary polymer that provides exemplary isolation of the speaker from the platform it’s sitting on.
It may be a “lifestyle loudspeaker”, but not at the expense of first being a Wilson Audio loudspeaker.
